Orientation of GP Stakeholders in Khambaliya, Devbhumi Dwarka

India Sanitation Coalition (ISC) conducted a two-day orientation session on March 6th and 7th for Gram Panchayat (GP) stakeholders in Khambaliya, Devbhumi Dwarka, Gujarat, focusing on the implementation of the Lighthouse Initiative Phase 2. The workshop was attended by 86 Gram Panchayats.
The orientation was inaugurated by Mrs. Hetal P. Joshi, Director of DRDA Khambaliya, who emphasized the critical role of local leadership in the initiative’s success. Key contributors included Mr. Avinash Raval, DGM – CSR, Nayara Energy, Mr. Imtiyaz Ghavda, HRD & CB Consultant, SBMG – Dwarka, and the Finish Society team.
 
Key Highlights:
  • Inaugural Address: Mrs Hetal P. Joshi highlighted the Sarpanch’s key role in the success of the Lighthouse Initiative Phase 2 and assured full support from DRDA.
  • Training by Nayara Energy: Mr. Avinash Raval discussed ongoing training programs in Gram Panchayats and the need for a comprehensive plan for DRDA review.
  • Waste Management Focus: The training covered liquid, solid, plastic, and fecal waste management, as well as menstrual hygiene, encouraging improvements in village-level practices.
  • Development Plans: The process for creating Village and Block Development Plans, including financial provisions and timelines, was discussed. Sarpanchs committed to submitting the first draft by March 19th.
  • Contributions from Finish Society: Mr. Shiv Kumar and Mr. Mukesh Kumar from Finish Society shared insights, and the Finish team played a key role in organizing and facilitating the event.
